Day 99: Power Yoga

Great Vinyasa Flow class. The instructor started slowly which is just what I needed.  My balance felt a little off today.  I felt a little sore from Ashtanga yesterday.  Feeling better though.

Day 91: Flow

Crow Pose

Crow Pose

Good flow class today. I am consistently able to do the crow pose arm balance now! Had 3 opportunities to try it and was able to get into it and hold it for the entire length of time the teacher gave us! Yay! :-) That feels so good when you can finally do something that you could not before! I still have plenty to work on. Need to work on standing splits and handstands. I don’t even come close to those right now.

Day 81: Power Yoga

This class is always a great workout. We did some good hip openers, which I needed. Anytime I feel a little stressed about things, my hips get really tight. Good hip openning stretches are great for this!

Day 72: Morning Yoga Basics, Evening Bikram

Yoga Kitty

Yoga Kitty

Double Yoga day! Two very good classes! This morning I took a great Basics class with my friend.

Later, I went to Bikram with my husband. It went well, until the last few poses, and then the heat got to me. I was just happy to have finished class today.

Day 67: Power Yoga

Crow Pose

Crow Pose

This class was great! The teacher is very good about describing how to get into the postures and set us up well to get into them. It makes it easy to pop into Crow Pose for example. I’m still so excited I can finally do that pose! Today, I really floated forward from my Vinyasa to forward fold. That is such a good feeling when you do it right. I could really feel that my body is stronger and more flexible than it was a few weeks ago. It’s so exciting when you feel it!

Day 42: Flow

This Vinyasa class was different than others I’ve taken. The instructor seemed to “rap” the instructions to the beat of the music. Kinda funny. It was hard to understand what he was saying. The good news today was I finally could balance easily in Crow Pose. That one is usually hard for me but I went right into it and stayed until the instructor moved on! Wow! I hope I can do that again!

Day 40: Hour of Power Yoga

This was a great, upbeat class in a warm room. Not hot like Bikram, but warm. We moved through the poses quickly and I started sweating profusely. I think I sweated about as much as in Bikram Yoga class. I liked that the instructor incorporated advanced inversion postures for the students who wanted them, but then had a more basic pose for those not ready for the inversions. This was a nice way of doing it. Many times the instructor has the class do inversions and then if I am not feeling strong enough to do them that day, I end up just trying to flounder doing a partial pose.

Day 23: Power Vinyasa

Fun class.  The instructor was new to me and she did several poses that I had never done before.  I don’t know how long it will take me to be able to do  ”flying bird pose” or “bird of paradise pose”.  It is always fun to try the poses even if you can’t fully do them.  As long as you try your best you are still getting the benefits!

Day 21: Power Vinyasa

Most of the students in class today seemed to be advanced and the instructor seemed to know most of them.  I am not ready for the headstands.  I still don’t feel strong enough.  I will stay in the “prep” phase of the pose for now.

Day 18: Power Vinyasa

Class started out OK, then all of a sudden I felt a sudden, sharp, headache. I guess it could have been the yummy margarita my friend made me last night, or the cognac over the grilled peaches with gelato… we had a fun girls night with fabulous food and friends, and maybe my yoga practice is moving the alcohol out of my system. I took a child’s pose for the next posture and then met up with class in downward dog. Headache disappeared after I did that.
